Simon Read runs your sale, from first conversation to completion.
Simon runs the sale of your electrical business himself: finding the right buyers, negotiating, seeing it through due diligence to completion, and the handover after it.
Part of the Reads Pre-Sale Programme. Led by Simon Read, Founder & Managing Director.
Why one person should run it.
An electrical business sale has a lot of moving parts: NICEIC or NAPIT registration, framework novation, TUPE for your electricians and testing contracts that need to transfer. Buyers look at all of it, and one experienced person holding the whole picture keeps it moving.
Simon has many years of experience in business sales and set up Reads M&A Advisory to specialise in sectors including electrical contracting. He does not work on volume, so each sale gets his own attention from the first conversation.
Buyers come from across the market: private equity-backed platforms, trade buyers consolidating regionally, and strategic investors. Simon's job is to find the ones that fit your business and bring them to the table.
What happens during the sale.
The first conversation
Confidential and without obligation: what you want from the sale, your timing, and a realistic valuation range.
Preparing to go to market
An anonymised profile that shows buyers what matters, such as recurring testing income, framework positions and your qualified team, without naming the business.
Approaching buyers
Only buyers whose criteria fit, and only with your agreement, with NDAs in place before any detail is shared.
Offers and heads of terms
Simon negotiates price and structure, including any deferred consideration or earn-out, and agrees heads of terms you understand.
Due diligence to completion
Emily Jeans keeps the paperwork and small details moving while your solicitor and the buyer's solicitor work through the legal side.
Handover and after
A planned handover to the new owner, and any deferred payments or earn-out period that follow.

Who runs your sale.
Simon Read, Founder & Managing Director
Simon works closely with each owner on what they want from the sale, which buyers fit and how to negotiate, and has built his reputation on honest, straightforward advice.
If the sale is still a few years off.
The earlier stages of the the programme are there to build the business a buyer will pay for. Simon can set a baseline valuation now and come back to it as the work goes on.
Start with a figure.
The valuation calculator gives you a price range as soon as you finish, and Simon can talk it through with you.
